Lucid Air Battery Warranty: Coverage, Limitations, and Replacement Costs
The battery is one of the most valuable components in a luxury electric vehicle. For a Lucid Air owner, understanding its warranty is more useful than relying on a generic estimate for battery replacement: coverage, vehicle model year, location and the reason for a fault all matter.
For the U.S. model-year 2026 Lucid New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first, with a minimum 70% battery-capacity retention during the warranty period. That is a warranty threshold, not a promise that all loss of driving range will be repaired. The model-year 2026 warranty also lists separate coverage periods for the basic vehicle and powertrain.
Owners should use the warranty booklet applicable to their specific vehicle and country of original sale. See Lucid’s official legal and warranty documents and the U.S. model-year 2026 warranty PDF.
Battery capacity and the estimated miles displayed on a dashboard are different measures. Outdoor temperature, speed, terrain, tyre pressure, accessories and driving style can change predicted range even when the battery is functioning normally. Lucid specifies that its trained representatives determine battery capacity for warranty purposes. A reduced dashboard estimate alone therefore does not establish a valid claim.
A covered defect may be remedied by repair, replacement or adjustment under the warranty terms. For capacity-related claims, the battery must meet the applicable warranty’s testing and eligibility conditions. Ask an authorised Lucid service facility to identify the diagnosed problem, the measured battery state of health and the clause supporting its decision.
Normal deterioration above the warranty threshold is not necessarily a covered defect. The warranty may also limit coverage for damage associated with misuse, improper maintenance, failure to follow charging or storage guidance, or unauthorised changes. Exact exclusions vary by booklet and jurisdiction, so read the complete terms rather than a summary.
There is no single reliable replacement price for every Lucid Air configuration and market. The final amount can depend on pack specification, the nature of the fault, labour, parts availability and whether the manufacturer authorises a warranty remedy. Avoid treating an online forum estimate as a dealer quotation.
If the work is not covered, request an itemised written estimate showing diagnosis, component costs, labour, taxes, transport and warranty on replacement parts. Also ask whether a smaller repair is technically appropriate rather than assuming the entire pack must be replaced.
Buyers should verify whether remaining original coverage transfers under the applicable terms and whether any certified pre-owned warranty applies. A used-car listing that simply says “battery under warranty” is insufficient: confirm the in-service date, odometer reading, market and documented service history.
Terms, availability and service arrangements may be different outside the United States. Do not assume the U.S. warranty quoted above applies automatically to a vehicle in another country, especially an imported car. Ask Lucid or the relevant authorised representative for the written terms attached to that vehicle.
No. It refers to battery capacity under the warranty’s measurement process, not a fixed dashboard-range figure.
Not necessarily. The warranty describes remedies that may include repair or replacement, subject to its terms and Lucid’s determination.
First examine the manufacturer warranty, any extended coverage and the proposed insurance policy’s exclusions. Insurance for accidents is not the same as a guarantee against gradual battery degradation.
